If you’re anything like us, you’ve had Lily Allen’s new album West End Girl on repeat this month. Raw and poignant, the British singer has released one of the best records of the year. Through her signature cheeky writing and infectious melodies, Allen documents the dissolution of her marriage to actor David Harbour. For many Allen fans, the emotionally-driven release served as her long-anticipated comeback to music. And tonight, at the 2025 CFDA Awards, Allen continued to step into her new era, hitting the red carpet in a look that called to mind revenge dressing.
If the term doesn’t ring a bell, revenge dressing involves looking so damn good in an outfit that it makes whoever has scorned you in the past regret that they ever did. (Princess Diana famously wore a black revenge dress in 1994, after her then-husband Prince Charles admitted to infidelity.) Allen channeled that same spirit by showing up on the carpet in a skin-bearing design that, well, tore.
