Each year, Oktoberfest draws more than six million tourists decked out in traditional lederhosen and dirndl dresses to Munich for the world’s largest beer festival.
The festival runs from Saturday 20th September to Tuesday 7th October this year – and has already seen hundreds of thousands of beer enthusiasts make their way to Germany to celebrate.
For tourists wanting the full experience, camping is a popular option – with some providers offering the same luxuries as a hotel for a fraction of the price.
Stoke Travel, for example, offers pre-erected two-person tents (complete with camping mattresses and sleeping bags), daily bottomless brunch and campsite parties, for just 65 euros (£56) a night.
But, it seems, this may be too good to be true.
One TikTok user shared a video of rows of grey tents packed closely together in a woodland area with the on-screen text reading ‘Oktoberfest camping’ with three sparkles emojis.
The caption reads: ‘Zlamping!’
And a commenter expressed their sympathy imediately, writing: ‘I did that last year… god speed’.

The user tagged Stoke Travel, which claims to be the biggest Oktoberfest accommodation provider and tour operator in Munich.
Stoke Travel offers a variety of packages which start at €65 (£56.71), €280 (£244.31) for the Ultimate Oktoberfest package which includes brunch and unlimited mimosas and €640 (£640) for a group tent.
For many visitors, camping is as much of an important aspect of Oktoberfest culture as the costumes and drinking.
And the campsites often feature their own parties with live music, DJs, and unlimited beer, continuing the festivities after the beer halls close.

But it’s not for everyone. As one commenter wrote: ‘Me and my boyfriend did this last year. We lasted a night and got a hotel.’
Another added: ‘I did this back in 2017 and it was the worst thing of my life, not even being dramatic. It was so gross.’
Others were quick to mock the TikTok creator for bringing a suitcase on a camping trip.
‘Camping or glamping with a suitcase is hilarious,’ wrote one user, with another pointing out that her suitcase looks bigger than her tent.
