This week marks the release of a new fashion book, The Look, which explores the inimitable style of Michelle Obama. Ever since she became First Lady in 2009, a role she held for two terms, Mrs. Obama and her right-hand stylist, Meredith Koop, have set the stage for what a powerful leader should look—and dress—like. It was only a matter of time, then, that a collection of images documenting her countless sartorial wins would be released into the world.
Last night, to celebrate the book, Mrs. Obama attended a live taping of her podcast IMO with Michelle Obama & Craig Robinson. Held at the Brooklyn Academy of Music (BAM) and moderated by her friend Tracee Ellis Ross, the conversation revolved around Mrs. Obama’s style evolution—from her early days on the campaign trail with her husband, to becoming First Lady, and on to what her life looks like in the present day—and naturally, she chose a striking stage outfit in which to cover all of these bases.
