He’s back! Nicola Brognano, best known for his Y2K turn at Blumarine from 2020 to 2023, is now creative director at premium denim label 7 For All Mankind, the brand announced today.
Brognano will make his debut on the runway at New York Fashion Week in February 2026. It’s the first time 7 For All Mankind will put on a show, underscoring the label’s ambitions to enter the fashion big leagues with a well-known designer at its helm.
“As I step into this exciting and inspiring brand, my goal is to create collections and products that honor the 7 For All Mankind DNA, while infusing a confident ease and an of-the-moment attitude — one that complements the brand’s heritage in denim,” Brognano said in a statement.
Launched in Los Angeles in 2000, 7 For All Mankind was an early proponent of premium denim as a category, moving away from denim’s utilitarian roots to more fashion-led styles, retailing between $200 and $300. The brand, nicknamed “sevens”, arguably reached its cultural peak in the aughts, with its strong Y2K aesthetic spotted across celebrities from Selena Gomez to Prince Harry, Duke of Sussex.
Following his tenure at Blumarine, defined by low-rise denim and the signature butterfly top, Brognano is well placed to riff off 7 For All Mankind’s Y2K roots, while updating it for a new generation of consumer. Since exiting Blumarine in 2023, the designer has continued working on his eponymous label Brognano, which he launched a decade ago and placed on pause to focus on the Italian house. Last year, Brognano released a 16-piece capsule collection backed by Shanghai-based retail platform Envision.
Despite its strong performance and cultural resonance in the 2000s, 7 For All Mankind has encountered commercial turbulence throughout its 25-year history, passing through several stages of ownership. The brand was acquired by VF Corp in 2007 for $775 million, then sold on to current owners Delta Galil Industries, in a joint deal with fellow VF Corp brands Splendid and Ella Moss, for $120 million in 2016.
