If 2024 was the year of the bob—we had the “lob,” baroque bob, kicked bob, clavicut, Italian bob (the list goes on and on!), then 2025 is proving that hair is going even shorter. Over the past 11 months, we’ve seen everything from ultra-cropped pixies à la Mia Farrow in Rosemary’s Baby on more than one celebrity, the glamorously androgenous “curtain crop,” a refresh of the classic “Pob”—a name that makes me giggle—and (of course) those classic bobs sliced with a straight edge we know and love all make a splash. And then there’s 2025’s unofficial cut for the daring: the Bixie, a combo bob-pixie that screams cool-girl.
If you’ve been craving a change—and hearing the siren’s call of the hair salon—consider this your sign. Emma Stone, Kim Kardashian, Selena Gomez, Rihanna, Keke Palmer, Zoe Kravitz…these are just a few of the celebrities leading the short-hair charge, which means you have more than enough inspiration to draw from.
All you need to do is look inside (or maybe in the mirror) and ask: What’s your cropped cut of choice? And if you’re not so sure, scroll on.
